Dear Dealers,
I am happy to say that our Semi-annual storewide sale was a big success, even though the unseasonably beautiful weather threated to make it a bust! I had a great time with our guests and dealers who visited us that week and hope all of you enjoyed a little boost to your November sales. Let us get on with our December business shall we? We are having a little trouble with our lighting situation in the store. Let me explain how we operate the hundreds of lamps and lights that brighten our mall each day. All of you are aware that every light must be plugged into a power stripe to meet fire safety codes. In order for those lights to be on, our staff must walk the store and turn each individual switch on and off each day. Our overhead lights are controlled by wall switches but the lamps are all by hand. They use a cane to “flip each switch” so they don’t have to bend over two hundred or so , times a day! With that knowledge, please ask yourself, “Is my power strip safe and secured against the wall or flat against the floor?” and “Is my power strip easy to reach?” If they are, thanks!! If not, please make the proper adjustments. If you have questions our floor staff will be more than happy to help you. As you can imagine, turning the lights on and off is a very time consuming task. Therefore, we instruct the staff to begin turning strips off before we close (about 30 minutes prior) in areas that are well light with overhead lighting, as they walk the floor and help guests. We appreciate everyone’s support and understanding as we continue to provide safe and bright lighting for our dealers and guests. We owe you all a huge apology! We had a little miscommunication in the November dealer notes that came out with your settlement. You are MORE THAN WELCOME to come in and work on your booth during the weekend. In fact, you are essential. All that we ask is that if you are bringing in large pieces of furniture; try your best to bring help along with you. We have a great deal of customer pick-ups on the weekends and we need our “muscle” for that a great deal. It isn’t that we don’t want to help but often times we just aren’t able to. We apologize for the miscommunication and hope this helps to clarify things a little. Thanks to each of you for another wonderful year for Southport Antique Mall. As this holiday season approaches, my appreciation for the community we have grows. On behalf of all of us at S.A.M, Happy Holidays!! May peace and prosperity reach you and your families. May you continue to find the joy of Christmas with each passing day. “…and to the world, peace, good will towards men.” Blessings, Alissa and Jane

Holiday shopping can be so frustrating sometimes! Finding the perfect gift for everyone special in your life can lead you to a million different stores and leave you exhausted and frustrated. The wonderful thing about shopping at the Southport Antique Mall or other antiquing establishments is that they have a variety of items that will suit just about anyone on your Christmas list. But sometimes, it is hard to come up with ideas for the most difficult people to buy for and that's where we come in! Check out this awesome gift guide for ideas on how to antique for the holidays! Gifts for the Hipsters in your lifeGifts for the Girlie GirlGifts for the guys guyGifts for the geeksLast year the Southport Antique Mall participated in the annual Greater Indianapolis Garage sale. We even were featured on the news to promote it! We had such fun assessing people's items and pretending we were on our own version of the Antiques Roadshow that we are partnering with the Garage Salers again! We are so honored to have been asked back on January 12th and 13th and to be a part of this wonderful event. Make sure you put it in your calendars now because you are not going to want to miss out on all of the deals. It's the best way to spend all that holiday cash!
Also, do you have an item that you can't identify or would like to know the fair market value for? Come and see us at the Garage Sale! We'd love to help you and our service is FREE!! So tell your friends and your family and come and join us for antiques, fellowship, and shopping! The owners and marketing team at the Southport Antique Mall want to thank everyone who attended the Social Media Workshop. You helped make it such a huge success and we are so grateful! We were pleased to host and provide refreshments for over 30 people, mostly dealers, but we even had some community members join us. We can't wait to see how our dealers utilize the new information to create an online presence, build positive relationships with fans, and bring in new business!
For those of you who did not attend, don't worry, it was such a success that we are in the process of scheduling another one. So don't miss out and keep your eye out for more upcoming dealer and community educational workshops! This month's do-it-yourself project is a quick, simple craft that you can do solo or with the family. The holidays are a busy time and crafting doesn't need to add to the chaos. This simple snow globe is an easy-to-make craft that will be done in no time, but will look like you spent hours matching them to your table decor as card place holders and/or gifts for friends and family. All you need is a hot glue gun, a mason jar, holiday ornament, whatever fun embellishments you wish to use, and, of course, glitter! All you have to do is choose an ornament that will fit easily on your mason jar lid and glue it in place using a hot glue gun. Then, fill the mason jar with distilled water, which will help your ornament not corrode, leaving enough room to allow the ornament to fill up the jar. Add your glitter and tighten the lid to make sure there are no leaks. Once you've finished with that, all that there is left to do is decorate the outside. Embellish the jar how you'd like, shake, and enjoy! Falalalalalalala! Are you ready to deck your halls this season, but are sick of looking like everyone else on the block? Everyone has this year's holiday decorations adorning their home, so why would you want to do the same? Come to the Southport Antique Mall for wonderful timeless decorations that can be passed down through the generations and keep your house looking unique while creating new decor traditions for you and your loved ones. |
