Southport Antique Mall welcomes June’s new booths:
Bette Brewer #709 and #253 Steve Shepard #700 Ken Pote #245 Betsy Grady #502 Marshall Gioscio #516 John & Jane Albright #129 Antique shopping is not just a spectator sport, but rather you can find items to ignite your creativity. Can’t find the perfect end table? You can find pieces to enhance and modify what you currently own or combine two vintage items from the Southport Antique Mall to create a unique piece that reflects you and your style. You can both find items you can reinvent or find repurposed items already made that will still add distinction to your home without all the work. An excellent example of this can be found in booth 116, where Southport Antique Mall’s own Janice Siler took an old piano bench, removed the hinged top, repainted, and topped it with a piece of oval glass to create her own shadow box end table! What used to be the storage area of the piano bench is now visible under the glass and would be a great place to display collectibles or anything that fits with your home décor. It is a perfect example of what a little ingenuity, tools, and antiques can accomplish! In honor of our nation’s birthday, our shopping guide of the month highlights Americana. When most people think of Americana flags, stars, stripes, and patriotism come to mind. And we certainly have a lot of those items here at the Southport Antique Mall for all of your Americana décor needs. Remember, Americana is also great for special decorative occasions like July 4th or Labor Day. It’s an easy, fun and unexpected way to add pizazz and history to your gathering. Integrating a few antique or vintage flags and a simple striped pillow can really theme a party! And those decorations are just as easy to store as Christmas decorations. Changing up the accessories in your home to coordinate with special occasions or even months is a simple way to reinvent your home on a regular basis with little effort, but a lot of impact. Our featured dealer of July is Nina Bohnert!!! Nina has been a dealer here at Southport for four years. Nina’s booth is the perfect place for finding living space accessories. Next time you stop in the Southport Antique Mall be sure and visit her two booths 103 and 135. We asked Nina a few questions so you can get to know her better. What is your favorite item to collect?
