If you haven’t seen them, make sure you don’t miss out on our Halloween themed windows! For the month of October, the Southport Antique Mall has adorable painted windows for everyone to enjoy! It’s our special way of bringing in the fall season and saying, “Happy Halloween” to our beloved community. A special thanks to Max, a dedicated staff member and dealer at SAM, who suggested the idea after remembering how much he loved seeing decorative holiday windows as a child. Hopefully, we can provide our community children with that same nostalgic, magical memory that they will remember forever. And, lastly, a special thanks to our artist, Hanna Trusty, for her beautiful work! If you are interested in window or mural painting, Hanna is the lady for the job! Just email us at socialmedia@southportantiquemall.net and we will make sure to pass along your information!

![]() Max is both a great dealer and faithful employee who is always ready and willing to help out. Whether it is with his vast knowledge of antiques (nobody can answer “what is it?” questions better then Max) or his innovative customer service and promotional ideas. As a matter of fact, our lovely Halloween themed painted windows were Max’s idea! Be sure and say hi to Max next time you’re shopping with us! Favorite Word: Friends Collects: A little of everything and anything that strikes his fancy, but he especially loves vintage holiday décor and dolls! Favorite spot in the mall: Front desk, he loves talking with dealers and customers and making them feel welcome! Years at Southport Antique Mall: Max has been a dealer here since 1999 (We think. It’s been so long we’re not quite sure) and has worked in the mall for several years Best antiquing tip: Knowledge. Favorite things about working at SAM: Meeting customers and making new friends! ![]() 1. How long have you been an antique dealer, both here in the mall and overall? About 15 yrs actually selling, I think we have been at SAM for 12 years though time flies when you're having fun. 2. What do you collect? My main collections are Hallmark©® Ornaments, a Sedona artist Jack Black (pottery) Hand Painted photos, Arts & Crafts items (furniture & Acc.) and American Indian themed art. 3. Star Wars or Star Trek? Star Trek and B-movie space theme think Killer Clowns from Outer Space 4. How did you first get interested in antiques? Going to my great aunt's homes and seeing all the neat items they had, the antiques brought great memories and relaxed me. 5. A little bit country or a little bit rock and roll? Rock & Roll more towards house, trance & industrial and just about anything 80's that was not played here on local radio. 6. What's your best tip antique or antiquing tip? Keep looking, Buy the best you can afford, but always look out for something better to "move up" into your collection. remember it's a collection not a museum. Also sometimes find a knock off to put out and put original in safe place, if it gets stolen or broken they only got the cheapie. 7. What is the weirdest item you have bought? Ugly lamps and weird smalls. It's always fun when you get the daily sales report (great addition to dealer services) and see something sold, usually response is "oh really". 8. Marvel or DC? Neither. Heavy Metal came out in 1977 from the National Lampoon group. It featured great novel comic artists, Mobius, Liberatore, Royo, Vaughn Bode, Richard Corben, Frank Frazetta, and Olivia. 9. Where's the best place to buy antiques in Indiana (hint, hint)? The best place to buy antiques is where you found the item you wanted at that time, BUT a great place to find and purchase Antiques as well as home decor items is here at Southport Antique Mall, with their attentive staff, great hours (makes for lots of "honey don't get out of the car, we need to go to SAM to pick up something I got earlier" moments) a lot of the items are not foo foo so guys can enjoy the "hunt" for something they like. The dealers are what drives the sales as they all try to find a niche and get the best they can find. My niche happens to be Mid-Century-Modern, but I still sell other eras as well as I've got the item and I want it out of my house. Keith likes the adage "collect what you love, buy when you see it, sell when you tire of it and it doesn't put a fire in your heart." and says "To my fellow dealers you keep me on my toes, to Linda K, Steve & Maxie, the staff here at SAM thanks for all your support, you all make the "work" fun and keeps our spirits up." ![]() Autumn brings us new, enriched hues to brighten our outdoor surroundings despite the approaching chilly weather.
