Dear Dealers,
I am happy to say that our Semi-annual storewide sale was a big success, even though the unseasonably beautiful weather threated to make it a bust! I had a great time with our guests and dealers who visited us that week and hope all of you enjoyed a little boost to your November sales. Let us get on with our December business shall we? We are having a little trouble with our lighting situation in the store. Let me explain how we operate the hundreds of lamps and lights that brighten our mall each day. All of you are aware that every light must be plugged into a power stripe to meet fire safety codes. In order for those lights to be on, our staff must walk the store and turn each individual switch on and off each day. Our overhead lights are controlled by wall switches but the lamps are all by hand. They use a cane to “flip each switch” so they don’t have to bend over two hundred or so , times a day! With that knowledge, please ask yourself, “Is my power strip safe and secured against the wall or flat against the floor?” and “Is my power strip easy to reach?” If they are, thanks!! If not, please make the proper adjustments. If you have questions our floor staff will be more than happy to help you. As you can imagine, turning the lights on and off is a very time consuming task. Therefore, we instruct the staff to begin turning strips off before we close (about 30 minutes prior) in areas that are well light with overhead lighting, as they walk the floor and help guests. We appreciate everyone’s support and understanding as we continue to provide safe and bright lighting for our dealers and guests. We owe you all a huge apology! We had a little miscommunication in the November dealer notes that came out with your settlement. You are MORE THAN WELCOME to come in and work on your booth during the weekend. In fact, you are essential. All that we ask is that if you are bringing in large pieces of furniture; try your best to bring help along with you. We have a great deal of customer pick-ups on the weekends and we need our “muscle” for that a great deal. It isn’t that we don’t want to help but often times we just aren’t able to. We apologize for the miscommunication and hope this helps to clarify things a little. Thanks to each of you for another wonderful year for Southport Antique Mall. As this holiday season approaches, my appreciation for the community we have grows. On behalf of all of us at S.A.M, Happy Holidays!! May peace and prosperity reach you and your families. May you continue to find the joy of Christmas with each passing day. “…and to the world, peace, good will towards men.” Blessings, Alissa and Jane
